It grabs your attention..... and a great aroma can make you feel hungry and a great taste can satisfy that hunger!
If you breakdown the basic structure of food you will see that all foods are same. A mixture of Carbohydrate, Vitamins & Minerals, Fat, Protein, Salt and Sugar, so is the PIZZA. At Okanagan Pizza we succeed in changing the taste with many combinations.
Many of you may be surprised to know that Pizza was first made in Greece. Pizza is derived from Pita or flat-bread, which was supposed to be a food for very poor people. Back in history, one Italian baker presented this bread (“PIZZA”) to an Italian Queen visiting Greece. The Pizza topped with cheese, tomato, and green herbs, together represented the colors of the Italian Flag…...and so the history of Pizza began!
Pizza, is a now a very popular food that can be made with many toppings. There is no limit to the number of combinations available and one pizzeria cannot offer it all. This explains why some people like one pizzeria over another. A great pizzeria also depends on the personalities of friendly staff who express an honest interest in the customers’ needs.
In general, I believe most people believe that Pizza is a non-healthy food. I do not agree with this statement and decided that Okanagan Pizza will only serve healthy varieties of wholesome, nutritious, fresh food.
In a journey to produce a better pizza base, I started adding natural protein to the dough. In time, and with trial and error, I established a final recipe that was agreeable to the standards I had set for myself and Okanagan Pizza.
In Further discussions with patrons, I understood that they also wanted the option of a Whole Wheat crust. We were able to develop a Whole Wheat crust with extra protein & sea salt. Sea salt is 90 times more expensive than regular salt but has 60% less Sodium, which is an important factor with those conscious of their general and heart health. We now carry a full line of pizzas with whole wheat crust.
Our customers that are on a gluten free diet have also requested pizzas with a Gluten free crust, I am proud to say that this is also now available at our location.
Our pizzas use less oil! When you order a Pizza from Okanagan Pizza, you will notice that your fingers are not greasy and there is very little grease residue on the delivery box.
All our vegetables are bought locally and are processed under strict guide lines and supervision. Meats are purchased frozen and come from No. 1 rated suppliers. Our wide range of meat toppings now include: Chicken and Turkey.
With the many improvements I have made in our overall production to create the very best in Pizza crusts and toppings; I am comfortable in saying, “That my Pizza, Okanagan Pizza; is healthy food!”
